Tantra

When I think of February, I think of Valentine’s Day, candy hearts, and an overall feeling of love. Yoga teaches us that this feeling of love comes from within, from our own essence that is a bottomless well of joy and love. Our Sanskrit word for this month is Tantra. Tantra has many definitions including “to weave”, “to expand beyond limitations”, and “to accelerate”, but the definition that reflects the tone of February is “to have one’s heart touched.” Can you recall a time in your practice when you had a profound experience that you couldn’t quite put into words? It may have been in a deep meditation, a healing yoga nidra, or after an asana practice that left you feeling joyful and light. This was an experience of tantra in the sense that your heart was touched. When we open our mind and heart to receive the teachings of yoga, we open to the opportunity to go deeply within and experience the oneness, the peace, love, and joy inside of us. With offerings like our Bliss Tent Gathering, Woo Talk, Yoga Nidra and Soundbath Meditation, there are plenty of opportunities to connect and dive deep within. Each time you come to your mat this month, set your intention to be open to receiving the teachings and experiencing tantra. With Love,Mercedes
