  • Cheryl Luke

Yoga Biography of Cheryl Ann Luke- I have loved yoga ever since my first class 25 years ago, and have practiced several types of yoga including: Hatha, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Yin, and Kundalini yoga. But, it was Kundalini yoga and Yin yoga which provided me with specific tools for specific issues as well as a practice for overall physical, mental and emotional health. I became a teacher of Kundalini yoga (12/12/12) and Yin yoga (06/14/16) because I am passionate about uplifting my community physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. I look forward to practicing with you! I have been teaching the students in the DC Kundalini Yoga Collective (Washington, D.C.) in person since June of 2014, and on-line from April 2020 to the present time. From March until May of 2020, I was a substitute teacher for the Kundalini yoga classes at GROW Yoga in North Beach, Maryland, and I have been co-teaching an on-line Kundalini yoga class for GROW Yoga from May of 2020 to the present time. I taught Yin yoga for the Justice Occupational Health Organization at the United States Department of Justice from June through December of 2017. I also obtained a chair yoga teaching certificate for Kundalini yoga on July 27, 2017. Finally, I earned my First Degree Reiki certificate on April 20, 2002 and completed a refresher course for First Degree Reiki on June 6, 2020. I earned my Second Degree Reiki certificate on July 11, 2020. I am presently conducting remote reiki on clients.

  • Wanda Rose

I’ve been doing Kundalini Yoga since March 2017. I started doing it on the advice of my oncologist. She said I needed to do strength training. I am a longtime swimmer, but had never done any strength training and thought it was all lifting weights. I asked her to suggest a strength training exercise that didn’t suck. She said, “Yoga.” So I went to GROW. It’s literally less than a mile from my house but I’d never been there. I did my first Hatha class and liked it. The next class I went to was Kundalini Yoga. WOW. I found I LOVED the meditation. I was hooked and kept coming back. After a few years of doing the practice regularly, I took Teacher Training in January 2020. Yup, right in the middle of the pandemic. I really feel it helped get me through it.

Kundalini Yoga is a great workout and you can really feel the energy moving in your body. It’s wonderful to chant along with other people and feel connected to the Divine. I have moved my body in ways that I didn’t think possible, and challenged myself to keep going when I didn’t think I could. I love this practice and teaching continues to help me both deepen my own practice and share it with others. I hope you will join us and see what this practice might have to offer you!
