Sadhana

On a global scale we’ve been experiencing unprecedented upheaval of our daily lives. Along with that upheaval, there has been a great deal of uncertainty, anxiety, and fear floating around in the collective consciousness. While we may not be able to control circumstances outside of ourselves, we can control what we do in response to challenging times. Our Sanskrit word for the month of April is sādhanā. Sādhanā is spiritual practice, done routinely to move towards equanimity and higher states of consciousness. In the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, sutra 1:13 defines yoga practice as effort toward steadiness of mind. More than ever we need to maintain our sādhanā, maintain our steadiness of mind. Each time we choose to practice, we are choosing peace and mental steadiness over fear. We can choose to let go of what we cannot control and embrace what we do have power over. We have power over how often we roll out our mat and move our body. We have the power to prioritize slowing down and deepening our breath. And, we have the power to choose to practice sitting still and observing the ever-present peace within. At GROW, our teachers are here to support you in your practice. While we are experiencing this time of physical distance, we are grateful that we’re able to continue to connect and help you maintain your sādhanā with our live-stream online classes. As we move into this month continue to check in with yourself, prioritize your well-being, and notice how your sādhanā has the power to shift energy from fear to peace. With love,Mercedes
